The ink hadn’t even hardly dried on last week’s state wrestling sports page and three of the New Town grapplers were on the other end of North Dakota in another physical sport, this time battling it out with horses.
Eric Danks, son of Tyke and Carol Danks, Jess Hall, son of Everett and Dawn Hall and Jesse Bear, son of Sonny and Paula Bear, all competed Saturday in the Dickinson State University 2010 bareback saddlebronc schools.
McCrae Danks, another aspiring cowboy, also the son of Tyke and Carol Danks, wasn’t able to ride because of a broken foot.
The boys were coached by North Dakota Sports Hall of Fame cowboy Brad Gjermundson, a four-time world champion saddle bronc rider.
The riding school was three full days of hands-on instruction including Friday, Saturday and Sunday and allowed the students to ride unlimited horses during their intense training.
Dickinson State University also provided a video review so the students could see their actions while in action in the arena.
