Trenton topples Lady Eagles

By Jerry W. Kram
New Town narrowly took the first set of its volleyball match against the Trenton Tigers, but 6’2” hitter Kella Norby was too much for the Eagles and they dropped the next three sets for a 3-1 Tiger victory.
Trenton jumped out to an early lead in first set 10-4. The Eagles came back to cut the lead to two at 12-10. The two teams stayed even, with Trenton continuing to hang on to that lead until the Eagles evened the score at 22. The Eagles got two scores and a side out to finish the set 25-23.
In the second set, the Tigers again took the early lead, 6-3. This time they would expand their lead, at one point going up by seven, 18-11. Shay Brunelle served four consecutive points and brought the Eagles back to within two, 18-16. The Tigers settled down and and went on a couple of runs of their own to win the set 25-17.
