Tigers roar through District 15

Undefeated and ranked third in the latest North Dakota Class B Girls Basketball Coaches Poll, the Trenton Tiger easily defended their District 15 Basketball crown at the tournament held in Parshall Feb. 13-15.
After a first round bye, the Tigers whipped the New Town Eagles 63-46 in the semi-finals and blew out the Mandaree Warriors 66-22 in the Championship Game.
The Tigers and Warriors will be joined in the Region 8 Girls Basketball Tournament by the Parshall Braves, who dropped the Alexander-Trinity Christian Comet Crusaders 67-42 and the New Town Eagles who stopped the North Shore-Plaza Wildcats 79-25 in the Region Qualifying Games.
The Region 8 Girls Basketball Tournament will be held at the 4 Bears Event Center in New Town on Feb. 24, 25 and 27. In the opening round, Trenton will take on the Powers Lake Ranchers at 3 p.m., followed by the Parshall Braves and Stanley Blue Jays at 4:30. The evening matchups will feature the Kenmare Honkers battling the New Town Eagles at 6 p.m. with the nightcap being Mandaree Warriors and Tioga Pirates at 7:30.
The opening round games of the tournament were all blow outs as the New Town Eagles bested the Alexander-Trinity Christian Comet Crusaders 70-38, the Parshall Braves toppled the White Shield Warriors 55-24 and the Mandaree Warriors overcame the North Shore-Plaza Wildcats 63-33.
Friday’s semi-finals saw the Trenton Tigers take an early double digit lead over the Eagles and never give it up. Ivy Fox had 19 points and Jonna Brady 16 for the Eagles while Kaity Hove led the Tigers with 17.
