Storming back

NHS College wins home opener

By Jerry W. Kram

The Lady Storm womens basketball team won’t see a lot of home cooking as they seek to repeat their National Tribal College Championship of a year ago.

Nueta, Hidatsa and Sahnish College Athletic Director and Storm womens basketball Head Coach Clinton Wolf said most of the team’s games will be on road for most of the 2015-16 basketball season. Last week’s pre-Thanksgiving game with the Thunderbirds of the United Tribes Technical College will be the team’s only game in New Town until January. The 8-0 Storm made the best use of their home field advantage to give the good sized crowd a nice show, coming back from a half time deficit to outscore the Thunderbirds by double digits in both quarters of the second half for the 85-68 win.

The Storm didn’t play well the first quarter, giving away the ball on several turnovers. Alexis Archambault had nine of the Storm’s 16 points in the first quarter. After the first quarter, the Storm trailed the Thunderbirds 21-16. Nine of the Thunderbird’s first quarter points came from beyond the three point line.
