Reese rushes for Eagles’ only score Mitchell Reese quickly redeemed himself Monday after fumbling the opening snap that led to a Beulah touchdown. On New Town’s second possession, Reese rushed right and scampered down the sidelines 60 yards that led to New Town’s only score of the day. With the score tied at 6-6, Beulah began mixing it up and went ahead 12-6 on a pass play, but the New Town defense for the second consecutive time, held Beulah on the two-point convert. On the ensuing possession, Eagles quarterback Jesse Bear rushed three times picking up the first down. It looked as if New Town might once again tie the score, but the Beulah defense held New Town on a fourth and four-yard situation that turned the ball over on downs. Unfortunately, it was late in the second quarter when the game got interesting, despite New Town’s ability to play strong defensively. Midway through the quarter Bear was injured and had to leave the game. And with only 12 players dressed for the action, head coach Dave Williams had to make a signal caller change. Reese went in at quarterback for one play and took a sneak up the middle for a four-yard gain. Following that play, Rodney Dragswolf came in at quarterback and played the rest of the game. Bear later returned to the game, but played wide receiver and defense.
