Recreation Dept. Leagues wrap up season
The MHA Nation Fitness and Recreation’s 5th and 6th grade volleyball and football leagues wrapped up their regular season in New Town on Saturday.
In the Sacagewea Girl’s volleyball league there was a 3 way tie for the league lead going into Saturday’s league games with the Parshall Lady Braves, the New Town Lady Eagles Purple team, and the Twin Buttes Lady Eagles all tied with records of 3 wins and 1 loss; at the end of the day the Twin Buttes Lady Eagles were crowned as regular season Champions of the Sacagewea 5th and 6th grade volleyball league.
The six volley ball teams will travel to Twin Buttes on Saturday for the Sacagawea Cup Championship. Starting at 1 p.m., the teams will have a round robin tournament until the champion is crowned.
The New Town Lady Eagle’s Coach Twyla Baker-Demaray was voted as Coach of the Year by all Sacagewea league coaches. Coach Sommer Cummings of the Twin Buttes Lady Eagles volleyball team has graciously donated her coaches pay for the season to her Twin Buttes communities Boy’s and Girl’s Club.
In the Chairman’s football league the Mandaree Warriors and the New Town Eagles Purple each entered the day tied for the league lead with 4 wins and no losses. The game wasn’t decided until late in the game where New Town scored the go ahead touchdown and converted their 2 point conversion, the 2 point conversion was the deciding factor of the game which ended with the score of 14-12 in favor of New Town.
