Pollsters predict exciting cross country finish
Pollsters predict exciting cross country finish By MARVIN BAKER The stage is set for the state cross country meet, which will take place tomorrow, (Saturday) in Jamestown and has all the drama of a state tournament as the New Town boys are gunning for their fifth straight state Class B title. New Town’s team has been ranked No. 1 a good part of this year and in the latest Class B poll, were ranked in the top spot with Jeremy and Justin Grinnell ranked No. 1 and 2 in North Dakota. Another New Town runner, Alex Baker, is currently ranked eighth, putting three New Town runners into the top 10. But the Eagles will have their hands full as they run the Hillcrest Golf Course and most of the competition is going to come from right down the road in Parshall. Justin Many Ribs, a solid and healthy performer all season, is ranked third in the latest Class B poll and teammate Kenny Wells is ranked fourth, a spot Wells is familiar with in running with Many Ribs and against the Grinnells. Despite Many Ribs and Wells performing well, the pollsters have placed Parshall fourth behind Lisbon, No. 2 and Rugby No. 3. In the final Class B poll, Rugby didn’t have any runners in the top 10. That puts Parshall in a good spot to challenge New Town, Lisbon and Rugby and has them in the highest position they’ve been in this year thanks to a couple of Lisbon Broncos who slipped out of the second and third spots after holding it through a better part of the late season.
