Shanice Lambert, a distance runner for the New Town track team, continues her supremacy as she took first place last Friday in the 1600-meter and 3200-meter runs in the Watford City Invitational track meet.
Lambert’s run of 6:25.98 bested Parshall teammates Desiree Wells and Devanee Hale and her run in the 3200 of 12:05.81 was nearly a minute ahead of Kayla Casteel of Divide County.
Carolyn Wolf was the only other New Town athlete to score in the track meet, finishing seventh in the shot put to round out New Town’s 25 points on the day.
The boys finished ninth with 27 points and it was Donovan Lambert who propeled the team in its effort to catch Mohall and finish ahead of Williams County.
Lambert finished an impressive second in the 1600 at 4:55.62, but it was two-tenths of a second behind Parshall’s Ken Wells. The same scenario played out in the 3200, as Lambert’s run of 10:54.68 was about a minute behind Wells.
