It looks like Alex Baker is picking up where Justin Many Ribs and the Grinnell twins left off.
Baker pounded the pavement Saturday in Dickinson, finishing fifth in the Becki Wells Invitational cross country meet in a strong field of Class A and B runners.
Baker’s time of 16:51 was 5 seconds ahead of Bismarck’s Todd Austin and just 24 seconds behind Class B powerhouse Kelly Wells of Parshall.
For his efforts, Baker helped his team to a seventh-place finish and the highest Class B tally with Montana’s Dawson County finishing just ahead of New Town. Bismarck High won the meet, followed by Century, Williston and Fargo Davies.
