New Town takes control of Wildcats in 2nd half
North Shore plays well in 2nd quarter, runs out of gas late in the game

Talk about excitement in a small town gymnasium on a cold, winter night.
New Town and North Shore sure provided high school basketball fans with plenty of action Jan. 20 before the Eagles pulled away in the second half to secure a 91-69 score.
The game was much closer than the score indicated, especially in the first half, as this District 15 contest featured five ties and four lead changes before the buzzer halted the action. In the second half, it was the Alex Baker show.
Even though the Wildcats started this game without floor leader Dustin Bailey, they had thoughts of upset in mind, and almost achieved it. As the first half was drawing to a close, North Shore had built up a seven-point lead when New Town realized the game was slipping away and changed the game plan to get back into it.
Even though Cade Karna opened the scoring for the Wildcats involving the crowd, New Town players worked the fast break well and despite a couple of botched scoring opportunities early on, a corner jumper by Baker and a Preston Smith slam put New Town up 11-7 to give the Eagles an early confidence builder.
But then, Kyle Giesen hit a jumper, pulled down an offensive rebound and scored again to tie the game at 11 and keep North Shore’s optimism in the front court.
