New Town takes control of Blue Jays in second half

From the looks of it, you would have thought this game was going to be a lot closer than it turned out. As Monday night’s make up game between New Town and Stanley got going, both teams were fighting for the possession arrow and the score remained close.
That was in the first half when Stanley took control of the rebounding on several errant New Town shots and capitalized on them to keep the game in check. In fact, about midway through the second quarter, the Blue Jays took their first lead of the game but it wouldn’t hold.
Even though Stanley actually led 31-30 at halftime, thanks in large part to the rebounding of Seth Leaupp and Landon Smith, New Town came storming back in the second half to take control and coast to the win.
New Town owned this game in the second half, which played out much different than the first half. The Eagles outscored the Blue Jays 21-13 in the third and 17-9 in the fourth as it was a combination of a determined New Town team and a Stanley team that simply ran out of gas trying to keep up with the hometown Eagles.
Four Eagles reached double figures in a balanced scoring attack that overpowered the beleagured Blue Jays. Mike Young Bird led the New Town attack with 16, followed by Alex Baker, 13, David Miranda, 10 and Preston Smith, 10. Justin Many Ribs, Brandon Poitra and Jeremiah Wells also scored for the Eagles.
