New Town splits two
By Jerry W. Kram
The New Town Eagles boys basketball team split against two Region 8 foes this week, dropping a hard fought 89-76 loss to the Stanley Blue Jays and coming back to blow away the Trenton Tigers 94-51.
The Eagles philosophy has been to run harder and longer that other teams this year, but this time it was the Blue Jays who outlasted the Eagles. The Blue Jays kept feeding their big men inside, brother Kaedyn and Wyatte Hanson who combined for 45 points. The Eagles set a blistering pace in the early going, scoring 24 points in the first quarter, but the Jays kept up, scoring 21 points of their own. The Eagles kept up the pace in the second quarter but were only able to out hustle Stanley 19-18 in the second to take a slim four point lead into halftime.
