The New Town Eagles volleyball team has had a tough week, dropping matches Tuesday night to Trinity Christian, finishing the Watford City tournament in 12th place and falling to Watford City last Thursday.
But head coach Terry Mathson says there are some bright spots on this team that is determined to compete against the top teams with a goal of showing improvement in each match they perform.
“We had a rough go at the Watford City tournament,” Mathson said. “While it looks bleak right now, there are signs of improvement and we have had games lately where we were right in the game and then we gave up a four-or-five-point run.”
In that tournament, New Town fell to Burke County, Bowman, Richardton-Taylor, Trenton and Powers Lake. The best match was against Trenton in which the Eagles droppe 25-21 and 25-20 scores. They also played fairly well against Powers Lake, losing 25-18, 25-18.
