New Town Eagles remain unbeaten

New Town pushed its unbeaten record to 9-0 this season in winning the NWC Tournament last weekend in Stanley.
The Eagles topped the Kenmare Honkers, 72-63, to claim first place in the 14-team tournament that boasts the best high school basketball talent in the northwest. Trinity Christian took third and Trenton came in fourth.
The win over Kenmare, as well as tournament wins over Powers Lake, Ray and Trenton, solidified the Eagles sixth spot in the Top 10 Class B Basketball poll this week, which is unchanged from a week ago. Linton-HMB, the only other team in the top 10 at 9-0, is ranked fifth.
