New Town came out of the loser’s bracket to climb into a fifth place finish in the Fabulous 14 Boys Basketball Tournament with a 58-56 win over Mohall-Lansford-Sherwood.
It was dubbed “co-fifth place,” as Divide County was the other team taking fifth with a 49-44 win over Ray.
New Town took an early lead but lost it in the second as Mohall came roaring back with 20 to take a 27-24 halftime lead.
Both teams were even in the second half with New Town outscoring Mohall 21-12 in the third and Mohall edging the Eagles in the fourth, 17-13, but it wasn’t enough as New Town secured the win.
Mike Young Bird and Alex Baker led a balanced scoring attack for the Eagles, each with 13. Preston Smith got into double figures with 10 and Justin Many Ribs just missed with 9.
