New Town boys the new "Cardiac Kids"

If you have a weak heart, you may want to consult your physician before watching the New Town Eagles boys basketball team this year.
The Eagles have opened the season with with two overtime victories, one where they gave up a last second three pointer to the Killdeer Cowboys on Friday and again when the scored four points in the last 15 seconds of regulation against the Garrison Troopers on Tuesday. Head Coach Robert White is happy to be 2-0 on the season, but says his team needs a lot of work if they hope to return to the North Dakota State Tournament again this year.
Against Garrison, the Eagles had an uneven game. The Troopers dominated the first and third quarters, while the Eagles owned the second and fourth quarters. The result was one point Trooper lead at halftime, 30-29 and a 53-53 tie at the end of the fourth quarter.
After the Eagles opened with an 8-2 lead, the Troopers came storming back to take the lead with just over two minutes to go in the first quarter. The teams started running and the Troopers took advantage of some poor passing to have an 18-12 lead at the first break. They held on to the lead until two minutes were left in the first half when the Eagles tied the game at 26.
The Troopers started the second half with a 10-2 run and had a 10 point lead, 49-39 early in the fourth quarter. The Eagles started to push the ball inside and got turnovers on defense, but the Troopers held a 53-49 advantage until Darly Grady cut the lead to two with 15 seconds left in the game. After a quick foul, Dakota Rand missed a free throw and the Eagles roared down the floor to tie the game at 53.
