Long bombs bail out the Eagles

The New Town Eagles boys basketball team relied on shots from downtown as they were taken to the limit in double overtime by the Standing Rock Warriors by a score of 92-89.
Peyton White Owl, D.J. LeBeau, Devon Headdress and Chace Hale all put away three point shots in first half to keep the game close against the hard charging Warriors’ fast break. The Eagles couldn’t slow down Warriors’ center Donald Blevins underneath the basket. Blevins had 33 points in the game. The Eagles balanced that by dropping 17 three pointers over the game.
"We shoot about 40 percent of shots from the three point line," said Eagles Head Coach Robert Smith. "So that doesn’t surprise me."
The game didn’t have a promising start for the Eagles as they surrendered a 6-0 run to the Warriors and committed four fouls in the first two minutes of the game. The Warriors capitalized on their height to work the ball inside the paint and seemed to score at will early.
"Their shortest guy was about the same height as our tallest guy," Smith said. "They are a really good team that’s big and tall and lengthy. It was hard to defend."
