Lady Eagles whip Warriors

By Jerry W. Kram
The New Town Eagles girls basketball team notched their third win downing the Mandaree Warriors in a high scoring matchup in New Town. The Eagles outlasted the Warriors 84-77. Coming off that win with no rest, the Eagles fell to the Beach Buccaneers 47-34 on Saturday.
New Town Head Coach Chuck Wells has been introducing a new offense to the Eagles this year, emphasizing passing and feeding the ball to the open player. The Eagles worked that plan to perfection, allowing Ivy Fox to score 30 with a lot of those points coming off passes under the basket. Brooklyn Fox scored 18 as well.
New Town jumped out to a quick lead taking the first quarter 24-17. The teams were even in the second quarter and the score at halftime was 41-34 in favor of the Eagles. The Warriors, led by Cherish Johnson’s 25 points and Daysha Serdahl’s 20, pushed back in the third quarter. Taking a brief 53-52 lead with a minute to go in the third quarter.
