Lady Eagles take two

The New Town Eagles girls basketball team got back to winning with back to back victories over Kenmare, 61-58 and a 20 point win over the Dunseith Dragons 67-47.
The Eagles won despite the absence of four of their starters with suspensions.
The Honkers took an early 8-4 lead over the Eagles in the opening minute of the game but the Eagles tied the game at eight with two minutes to go. The Eagles then went on a 7-1 run before the Honkers scored the final basket of the quarter for a 15-11 Eagles lead. The Eagles opened the second quarter with a 11-4 run on their way to a 35-18 halftime lead.
"That first half we did a lot of good things," said Head Coach Damon Brady. "We had an inside game and an outside game. In the second half, because of foul trouble, we got away from what we are doing and let them back in."
The Honkers nibbled away at the Eagles lead in the third quarter, outscoring New Town 15-12, but the Eagles still held a 50-30 lead. The Honkers started a run in the fourth quarter, but the Eagles still had a 11 point lead with two minutes to go. The Honkers went on a 10-2 run and were within three points with 17 seconds to go, but the the two teams traded foul shots and the Honker rally came up three points short, 61-58.
