Lady Eagles take second in Region
By Jerry W. Kram
The New Town Eagles girls basketball team finished up their season with a second place finish in the Region 8 tournament in Ray.
The Eagles earned their place in Thursday’s final with a 77-61 victory over the Parshall Braves on Tuesday, setting up a rematch with the Watford City Wolves in the championship game. The Wolves used a strong first half to put the game out of reach early and rolled to a 67-42 victory and a berth at the North Dakota State Class B Tournament in Grand Forks.
"I’m really, really proud of our girls, each and every one of them," said Eagles Head Coach Damon Brady. "They have progressed so much over the course of the year as a team. We certainly would have liked to be on the winning end of it, but that was a very good Watford City team. There’s no doubt that they will do very well at the state tournament."
