Lady Eagles overwhelm Warriors
By Jerry W. Kram
A week after beating District 15 rival Watford City, the New Town Lady Eagles picked up another district victory by upending the White Shield Lady Warriors 95-32. This was just the Lady Eagles fourth game since coming back from the holiday break, but they will be playing eight games in 16 days including games with district rivals North Shore Plaza, Parshall and Mandaree.
The Lady Eagles put the pressure on the Lady Warriors early and didn’t take their foot off the accelerator until the last few minutes of the game. New Town led 29-11 and 57-20 after the first two quarters. The Lady Eagles outscored White Shield 26-5 in the third quarter.
"We looked to jump on them early," said Head Coach Cliff Tollefson. "We wanted to get a few steals and get on them. It’s good to have games like this where we can get everyone a lot of playing time. We saw a lot of good things. We played really relaxed and shot the ball well because we were so relaxed."
Ten Lady Eagles wound up in the scoring column led by Baeleigh Brady with 24 points, Chelsey Quick Bear with 23 and Jasmyne Big Crow, 17. Sheyenne Fox led the Lady Warriors with 10 points.
Tollefson said he has been working on keeping the team sharp with a week off after their game against Watford City.
