Lady Eagles off to 2-1 start

In their first three games of the season, the New Town Lady Eagles had a relatively east time with Westhope-Newburg and Max, but ran into a buzzsaw against the top ranked Lady Lions of Bishop Ryan.
The Lady Eagles first two games of the season were held at the Minot Civic Auditorium on Dec. 13 and 14. They had little trouble disposing of the Lady Sioux in the Friday night game, 66-27. Baeleigh Brady led all scorers with 27 and Jasmyne Big Crow added 11. The Lady Eagles were efficient at both ends of the floor and led at halftime 43-13.
Saturday’s game was against the defending state champion Bishop Ryan Lady Lions. Bishop Ryan went 27-0 last year and is ranked number one again this year in the North Dakota Class B Girls Basketball poll. The Lady Eagles were dominated offensively and defensively and fell 71-33.
"There is a reason Bishop Ryan is ranked number one," said Lady Eagles Head Coach Cliff Tollefson. "We had too many turnovers against Minot Ryan. We definitely learned something from that game. Going forward, I’m hoping we can put that lesson together on the floor and do better."
