The New Town Lady Eagles hosted Underwood on Tuesday night at the Northern Lights Building for their final regular season home game of the season. After taking a commanding 21-6 lead after the first quarter, the Lady Eagles held Underwood to just five points in the second quarter and went into halftime with a 33-11 lead.
“We played OK,” said New Town Lady Eagles head coach Orville Drosdal. “We defended really well in the first half. We defended the ball on the perimeter. We cut down on some of the silly fouls that we have been making.”
The Lady Eagles were outscored 14-10 in the third quarter but went into the final quarter with a 43-25 advantage. New Town held on for the victory, 62-44, and moved onto a perfect 16-0 record on the year.
“I thought the girls shot the ball a little bit better in the second half,” said Drosdal. “We had a nice balance on offense. In the second half we were playing some different girls and resting some girls.
