The New Town Lady Eagles were crowned District 15 Champions with a 61-53 victory over the Parshall Lady Braves at the Northern Lights Building in New Town on Monday.
New Town’s first game was a nail-biting tilt with the Wildcats of North Shore Plaza in the second round of the tournament. The Lady Eagles had a bye in the first round as the number one seed. The Lady Eagles trailed the Wildcats for most of the game. NSP jumped out to a quick lead, scoring 15 points and holding New Town to just six in the first quarter. The Lady Eagles’ offense woke up in the second half, but the Wildcats still took a four point lead into the locker room at halftime.
“The Wildcats are a good group of athletes who have been playing together for a long time,” said Lady Eagles Coach Orville Drosdol. “After about three-four months of playing together I knew they would be playing as well as advertised. I knew that by tournament time they would be ready to go.”
