The New Town Lady Eagles volleyball team had the element of home court advantage last week for the District 15 Girls’ Volleyball Tournament; the Northern Lights Building was the venue for the yearly tournament which advances four teams to the Region tournament.
The Lady Eagles entered Districts as the #4 seed going into the tournament as they faced the #5 seeded Trenton Tigers last Monday.
New Town’s Mariah Wolf’s 10 kills along with Kassidy Brenna’s 15 assists, 26 digs by Jessica Aubol and six aces-a-piece for Wolf and Brenna helped the Lady Eagles win the match in four games.
With the victory over the Tigers, the Lady Eagles advanced to the semifinals against the Stanley Blue Jays. The Blue Jays entered the District 15 tournament as the #1 seed. The Lady Eagles struggled to put up points against the Blue Jays and eventually lost to Stanley in three straight matches.
