Hackers win Idaho tournament
The Hackers basketball team is comprised of tribally enrolled member of the Mandan Hidatsa and Arikara Nation. They have been travelling together since the fifth grade with a couple of recent additions. They travelled 1,500 miles over the past weekend to compete in the annual Fort Hall, Idaho Youth Jr. Division.
All players had to be enrolled member of a federally recognized tribe and not over 14 years of age. Players include: McKayla Howling Wolf daughter of Sonny and Shari, Gabrielle Wilkinson daughter of Spencer and Kay, Rayessa Baker daughter of Dana and Todd, Jay Dawn Two Bears daughter of Don and Carmen, Chelsea and Lariah Quickbear daughters of Anthony and Kelli, Baeleigh Brady daughter of Damon and Valerie, Kylee Halvorson daughter of Broadus and Carmen, Jasmyne Big Crow grandaughter Sylvia (Sue) Hall. This prestigious tournament is organized by the band of Fort Hall Tribes and Recreation program.
The scores of the double elimination tournament are as follows: Hackers 38 Mill Creek, Wyo. 31, Hackers 75 Rocky Boy, Mont. 46, Semifinals score, Hackers 47 Pine Ridge, S.D. 41. The championship game score was Hackers 55 Rocky Boy 53.
