The Boys & Girls Club of the Three Affiliated Tribes took 10 middle and high school athletes to the Footlocker Midwest Regional Cross Country Qualifier in Kenosha, Wis., on Nov. 29.

Kenosha is located near the eastern Wisconsin border on Lake Superior, between Milwaukee and Chicago. The race was held on a cross country course at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside.

Athletes who attended the race included:

New Town: Clyde Baker, David Dobbs, Jeremy Grinnell, Mike Youngbird, Jr., Jayli Fimbres

Parshall: Kenny Wells, Jr., Desiree Wells, Nathaniel Wells, Jade Moran

Bismarck High School: Shanice Lambert

The top 24 runners in each event medalled. Kenny Wells, Jr. medalled in the freshman/sophomore boys division, placing 24th. Mike Youngbird, Jade Moran, Clyde Baker and Nathaniel Wells also competed in the freshman/sophomore race.

Jayli Fimbres and Shanice Lambert competed in the girl’s seeded division. This was the largest race of the day with 290 runners.

Jeremy Grinnell and David Dobbs ran in the boy’s seeded division which had 249 competitors. Desiree Wells ran in the freshman/sophomore girl’s race which had 58 runners.

The Fort Berthold runners did well, despite an extremely muddy course that caked their spikes with a heavy clay and was very slippery.
