Add three individuals and one organization to the list of those calling themselves members of the North Dakota Fishing Hall of Fame.
Those inducted last week during the rules meeting of the N. D. Governor’s Walleye Cup Fishing Tournament are Clayton Folden of New Town, Richard Fink of Bismarck, Paul Haug of Fargo and the Lake Region Anglers Association of Devils Lake.
Accepting his award from members of the Hall of Fame Committee, Folden, a 2004 Governor’s Cup Tournament winner, got emotional. Looking over the audience he said, “without you guys, this doesn’t happen.”
Folden said he is humbled by the honor.
“You can’t get these things by yourself, you have to have help along the way, and I’ve been blessed with a good wife, a family, good teachers, but the greatest thing was knowing the late Dale Henegar.
“We argued, we fought … but at the end of the day we could sit there and talk to each other,” Folden said. “He had a vision for this lake that carries on to this day.
“Yes, this is very humbling, but it belongs to a lot of people,” he added.
Fink said receiving hall of fame recognition was a real honor.
Fink has been a leader in the Bis-Man Reel & Rec Club for a number of years, serving as its president as well as filling most other leadership roles. He is a founding member of the “Take a Kid Fishing” program sponsored by the Bis-Man Reel and Rec Club.
