Eagles win squeaker vs. Comets

By Jerry W. Kram
The New Town Eagles held off a late challenge from a young Alexander Comets volleyball team to solidify their second place position in District 15.
The Eagles were taken to five sets by the Comets with scores of 25-12, 27-25, 17-25, 17-25 and 15-13.
Head Coach Dyan Fox said the team lost some of its focus after pulling out the tie breaking points at the end of the second set. But she was proud of how they were able to regroup and work together to hang on and win the fifth and deciding set.
“We came out of the chute fast,” said Fox. “We kind of slowed down but we rallied back. I give a lot of credit to Alexander. They’ve worked hard and they are a young team, so they are going to be good in the future.”
