Eagles upset in Region Cross Country

By Jerry W. Kram
It’s been a long time since the New Town Eagles have been challenged on the cross country course, but this week Bowman County upset the Eagles by the narrowest of margins at the North Dakota West Region Cross Country Meet held in Stanley.
New Town had six runners in the top 20 at the meet including Robert White winning the individual gold with a time of 16:08 and a fourth place finish by Addison Red Fox. They were followed by Ben DuBois in 13th place, Colt Spotted Bear, 16th and Phoenix White, 17th for a team score of 45 points.
That performance wouldn’t hold up because led by junior Brian Miller, Bowman took five of the six places between seventh and 12th for a meet low score of 42. Stanley was third with 135 points and Beulah was fourth 141.
