By Jerry W. Kram
The New Town Eagles Girls Basketball Team is 2-2 early in their 2017-18 season. After winning their season opener against Ray at home last week, the Eagles split at the Minot Shootout on the Prairie losing to last year’s Region 2 champion Park River 42-38 and beating Bishop Ryan 61-59. Tuesday, the Eagles traveled to Dickinson Trinity where they lost a close game 53-46.
The Eagles played the Park River Aggies in Minot and started fast, finishing the first quarter with a 14-12 lead. The Aggies had a strong second quarter, outscoring the Eagles 12-6 and held onto that lead for the rest of the game. After three quarters, the Aggies were up nine, 35-26. The Eagles were able to cut into that lead in the fourth quarter but fell just short, 42-38.
