The 2008 volleyball season came to a close Nov. 6 for New Town during the District 15 tournament held in Stanley.

After falling to Parshall, the Eagles had their opportunity to qualify for the regional but fell to Trinity Christian 3-0, Nov. 6 dashing any hopes for a longer season. The Crusaders also lost in the opening round to Trenton.

In that match, Megan Schilke and Whitney Kitzan each had five kills and Megan Herr added 15 assists as the Crusaders took it to New Town to ensure their own season would go on.

Cassidy Smith had a team high four kills, followed by Shelby Baker 3 and Carissa Weber nailed four aces for New Town, which dropped three consecutive games, 25-14, 26-24 and 25-12.

New Town’s best opportunity came in the second game but Trinity prevailed and faced the Divide County Maroons in the first round of the Region 8 tournament. New Town kept that frame exciting taking it to the extra game point, but couldn’t hold on.
