New Town had two first-place winners, three second-place winners and a fourth-place winner to help the team finish seventh of 16 teams in the Northwest Conference track meet held Thursday in Tioga. New Town scored 53 on the day.
Cole Danks arguably had his best day in high school track with a first-place toss in the discus. The freshman field man got top spot with his throw of 130 feet, 8 inches to top Dillon Jesz of Surrey by 8 inches.
Alex Baker was the other first-place finisher, winning the 1600-meter race in 4:42 and beating out Kenny Wells of Parshall by slightly more than one second. In addition, Baker took second in the 800-meter run in 2:09, approximately four seconds back of Garrison’s Jon Price.
