Eagles rumble to victory

The New Town Eagles got their 2014 football season off to a hot start with a 18-0 victory over the Parshall-White Shield Braves in the first game of the season Tuesday night. Running back Darryl Grady scored all three touchdowns for the Eagles, including a 51 yard run in the fourth quarter.
Neither team was able to do much in the first quarter and the start of the second quarter. Then the Eagles manufactured a long drive capped off by a four yard run by Grady. Shaydon Long Crow helped stifle the Braves offense with an interception.
The second half was a replay of the first, with the two teams exchanging punts in the third quarter. Grady decisively ended the deadlock when he shook off a bunch of Braves defenders and rumbled down the left sideline for a 51 yard touchdown run. On the ensuing conversion attempt, the Eagles were penalized for too many men on the line, and were moved back five yards. They tried a pass, but the Braves’ Daniel Jarski snagged the ball with one hand for an interception. The Eagles put together another long drive capped off with a 9 yard run by Grady to close out the scoring.
Eagles Head Coarch Mike Montgomery credited strong play by the team’s offensive line for Grady’s success.
