Eagles rumble to a victory in Dickinson
By Jerry W. Kram
The New Town Eagles enjoyed their trip to Dickinson as they easily handled the Standing Rock Warriors 34-0 in high school football play at the Badlands Activities Center.
The Warriors offensive was highly productive in the first and third quarters of the game. Freshman running back Ben Hall got the scoring started in the first quarter with a five yard run. Senior quarterback Lucas Wollschlager contributed another six with an eight yard scramble for another touchdown. The first half ended with Eagles over the Warriors 12-0.
The Eagles defense was dominant the entire game. Standing Rock’s leading rusher, Davis Foolbear, was held to just 20 yards on nine carries. Gauge Harrison only gained nine yards on his seven carries. The Warrior’s quarterback, David Murphy, was shut out in the passing department with no completions in five attempts and an interception. The New Town defense even got into the scoring act, contributing a safety in the second quarter to make the score 14-0 at halftime.
