Eagles qualify 8 for state meet

Eagles qualify 8 for state meet
Jayli Fimbres a double winner
Eight New Town Eagles, coming off a strong Region 7 meet in Tioga last Saturday, have qualified for the state track meet that is being held this weekend in Bismarck.
Jayli Fimbres and Shanice Lambert were double winner last Saturday and will each be competing in four events. Fimbres took first in the 800-meter run and the 3200-meter relay, while Lambert finished first in the 1600 and was a part of the 3200 relay.
This weekend, Fimbres will be competing in the 800, 1600, 3200 and 3200 relay, while Lambert will be running in the same events. Head Coach Brian Anderson is confident the girls should stack up some points in these four events.
Brooke Fettig and Taylor McGrady will also be the three and four legs of the 3200 relay, a team that has done well throughout the 2010 season.
And finally, Carolyn Wolf, who took second in the shot put in Tioga, will be throwing the shot in Bismarck for a chance to add to the Eagles point total.
For the boys, Justin Many Ribs and Donovan Lambert, strong runners all season long, will be competing in the distance runs. Lambert, who has won the 3200 numerous times this year, will be running in that event, while Many Ribs will run the 800, 1600 and 3200.
In Tioga, Many Ribs took first in the 800 and second in the 1600, while Lambert was first in the 3200 and third in the 1600.
Cole Danks will also be competing at state after coming in second in the discus in Region 7. Danks has steadily improved all season long and Anderson likes his chances in the state meet.
