Eagles outrun Warriors

By Jerry W. Kram
The New Town Eagles took a quick lead over the White Shield Warriors and then held on for a wild ride as the teams battled back and forth in a high speed game that the Eagles won, 77-69.
The Eagles started the game with a 7-2 run over the Warriors and extended their lead to 12 early in the second quarter, 30-18. The Warriors started the first of many runs they would have during the game to cut the Eagles lead to 37-35 with a half a minute to go in the first half.
“We didn’t play all that well in the first half,” said Eagles Head Coach Jay Hale. “We were kind of doing some dumb stuff. We weren’t running our offense. To give credit to White Shield, they made up play that way.”
Warriors freshman Jase Dickens kept the Warriors in the game in the first half with 19 points while senior Jesse White added 14. They accounted for all but two of the Warriors first half points.
