Eagles improving despite first loss

The New Town Eagles boys basketball team suffered its first loss 50-39 against Washburn in the McLean County Shootout in Garrison Saturday, but bounced back with convincing back to back wins on the road Monday and Tuesday beating the Divide County Maroons and Trinity Christian Crusaders.
The Eagles came out slow against the Cardinals in Garrison and were down 16-10 after the first quarter. A better second quarter saw the Eagles lead by one at the half, 24-23 and they were still within two after three quarters 35-33. However, the Cardinals closed strong with good defense and pulled off the 11 point victory. Washburn is undefeated at 6-0 and the loss dropped the Eagles to 5-1.
Daryl Grady had 11 points for the Eagles and Payton White Owl had 10. The Cardinals were led Caleb Weisgarber’s 30 points.
The Eagles bounced back with a dominant 50 point win over the Maroons in Crosby on Monday, 74-24. The Eagles pretty much sealed the game in the first quarter, outscoring Divide County 23-3. The Eagles were led by Elijah Grady with 22 points, Daryl Grady 12, and Whiteowl 10.
