Eagles grapplers headed to state
Tournament to be televised
The New Town Eagles placed seventh in the Region III wrestling tournament in Stanley with 58 points. Three New Town wrestlers qualified for the state wrestling tournament in Fargo this weekend with their performance in the tournament.
Tavares Fimbres, 113 pounds, Ben Hall, 195 pounds and Sheldon Standish, 220 pounds, will travel to Fargo for the state tournament. Each of them earned a slot by placing fourth in the regional tournament.
In the first round of the state tournement, Fimbres, a freshman with a 10-15 record, will face eighth seeded Talan Nielson, a sophomore from Bowman County with a 15-14 record. Hall, a freshman with a 3-3 record, will square off against junior David Dukart of Killdeer, who has a 25-7 record. Standish, a senior with a 7-3 record, will take on number one seed Andrew Beine of Napoleon, who brings a 29-1 record to the tournament.
For the fifth consecutive year, BEK Sports will televise the State Wrestling Tournament with LIVE coverage from the FargoDome, February 14 – 16, 2013. The State Class “A” and the State Class “B” tournaments will be televised simultaneously providing two full channels of mat-side wrestling with heart-pounding action.
