Eagles finish 4th in Velva invite

The one thing Mike Montgomery didn’t want was to see open weight classes when his New Town Eagles wrestled Saturday in the Velva Invitational.
Not only were the key weight classes filled, New Town surprised a lot of people by finishing fourth in the field of nine teams.
New Town finished the invitational with 77 points, good enough to place the Eagles fourth. Velva won the tournament with 234, followed by Harvey, 166, and Stanley, 109.5. Rugby, Minot Ryan, Des Lacs Burlington, Rolla and Kenmare all finished behind the Eagles.
The day belonged to Slade Stringer, Jace Uran, Sheldon Standish and Zach Danks. Stringer and Uran both made it to the championship round, while Standish wrestled for third place and Danks got to the semifinals.
