Eagles even season record

By Jerry W. Kram
The New Town Eagles Volleyball team evened its season record at 2-2 with a three sets to one victory over the Trojans of Turtle Lake-Mercer-McClusky.
Head Coach Dyan Fox said the Eagles have had problems coming out slow in matches and the Monday night matchup was no exception. The Trojans jumped out to 10-lead in the first set and never looked back. The expanded their lead to 19-5 before the Eagles woke up behind the serving of Tamara Fox. The Eagles pulled within eight before running out of chances and losing the set 25-16.
“It is about consistency,” Coach Fox said. “We can’t come out slow like that. Even though we fought back, we cannot start out like that. We have to start out like we did in the second set.”
In the second set it was the Eagles who got hot early, jumping out to a 10-5 lead. They expanded their lead to 22-9 and middle hitter McKenzie St. Claire sealed the set with a hard kill at 25-11.
