Eagles Boys start the season on a roll
By Jerry W. Kram
The New Town Eagles boys basketball team are 4-0 in the first week of the season and have already hit the century scoring mark twice.
The boys opened with a convincing home win over the Watford City Wolves last Thursday 79-61, and ran away from the Beach Buccaneers 115-60 and the Mandaree Warriors 101-65 on the road Saturday and Monday before coming home to face the Killdeer Cowboys on Tuesday in the Eagles Nest. The Eagles had an easy time with that game as well, taking down the Cowboys 78-48.
The Wolves broke out of the gate early against the Eagles, scoring the eight of the first 10 points of the game. However, the Eagles calmly went about their business and were leading 10-8 with two minutes to go in the quarter and finished the quarter 12-10. They turned on the afterburners in the second half and outscored the Wolves 30-15. Baker played his bench in the second half and cruised to the 18 point victory.
