New Town and Parshall runners are ready to go for the North Dakota Cross Country Meeting in Bismarck on October 25. The New Town Eagles Boys Team looks to be the favorite to repeat as state champions after dominating the West Region Meet in Watford City on Saturday.
The Eagles boys easily won the team meet with 35 points. Bowman County took second place with 98 points. The Eagles had five runners in the top 11 led by Ryan Wheeling, who took third with a time of 17:36. Eliot Stone of Shiloh Christian won the race with a time of 16:42. Other top finishers for the Eagles were Scott Hale, Jalen Chase, and Joe Chase who took sixth through eighth place and Jaiven Hale who placed 11th.
New Town Cross Country Coach Brian Anderson was named West Region Coach of the Year. Anderson said it was the 10th straight West Region championship for the New Town program.
Justin Hart, the sole boy running for the Parshall Braves, placed 32nd with a time of 20:20. Head Coach Harlan Johnson said Hart has constantly improved his times all year and should have a good showing at the state meet.
