From the first inning to the last Makoti put pressure on Garrison-Max last Thursday and it ended in the Mavericks sweeping their sectional foe 7-3 and 12-2 in American Legion baseball action. The last time the two met, Garrison-Max claimed a pair of victories at home, including a Makoti comeback that fell short. This time around, it was all Mavericks.
“The kids are actually starting to get into the games more and playing better than we have been,” coach Sonny Bozza said. “We did a good job of hitting all year and it showed against Gartrison that once our hits started to fall we can put up a lot of runs.”
Makoti took the lead first as Jaren Enockson opened action with a standup triple. Then Tristan Gray laid down the bunt to score. The home team added another run in the second inning as Cade Karna scored off a blast by Nolan Hauge before the outfielder was caught at third base.
