Braves edge Eagles for region spot

This year’s rivalry between the New Town Eagles and Parshall Braves volleyball went down to the last game of the last match of the District 15 Tournament in New Town. New Town staged a dramatic comeback, but the Braves regrouped and won the fifth game of the match 15-6 to take third place in the tournament and earn a berth in the Regional Tournament in Ray.
The early part of the match belonged to the Braves, although the Eagles played hard and kept every game close. The Braves took the first match 25-19. The Eagles played better in the second game, but still came up short by a score of 25-22.
"We got off to a slow start again," said Eagles Head Coach Dyan Fox. "Our mental game was a big, big factor. The Braves were ready to go. Just getting our heads in the game was a big thing. Once we started, we were fighting hard."
The third game was a turning point with both teams trying to control the game at the net. The Eagles tied the score at 24 and were able to serve out for the 26-24 win. The turnabout seemed to demoralize the Braves for a while and the Eagles jumped out to a quick lead in the fourth game. The Braves comeback started a little too late and the Eagles tied the match with a 25-17 score.
