The Parshall Braves Volleyball team was upset by the Alexander Comets in the first round of the District 15 Tournament in New Town, but recovered to eliminate the White Shield Warriors, setting up a third place match on Thursday with the New Town Eagles for a trip to the Regional Tournament in Ray next week. The Eagles dumped the Trinity Christian Crusaders before falling to the Trenton Tigers in the semifinal round.

The third seeded Braves jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead against the sixth seeded Comets, winning 25-13. The Comets started to rally in the second game, but the Braves prevailed 25-23. The third and fourth game were also close battles, with the Comets coming out on top 25-22 and 25-19. The Braves never trailed by more than three in the tie-breaker game, but they couldn’t get past the Comets and gave up the match, 15-13.

"Alexander came out hard," said Coach Amber Young Bird. "They wanted it just like we did. It was a very good game. The girls started struggling after the third game and couldn’t regroup. By the time they tried to regroup it was too late."

They bounced back against the seventh seeded Warriors, taking the match quickly with scores of 25-13, 25-9, and 25-5.

"We got the job done today," Young Bird said. "Our girls were ready to get the job done. They aren’t going give up. Now we get will get ready for Thursday."
