Braves, Eagles fall in tournament tuneups

By Jerry W. Kram
Tournament time is fast approaching and both the New Town Eagles and Parshall Braves had their final regular season home games on Tuesday. The Eagles took the Powers Lake Ranchers to the limit but lost in a 3-2 match. The Braves were no match for the Ray Jays and lost three games to none.
District 15 Tournament play opens up in New Town at 6 p.m., Monday, March 29. The New Town Eagles are the fourth seed in the tournament and will open play against the number five seed Mandaree Warriors at 6 p.m. That game will be followed by the number six seed Parshall Braves going up against the three seed Alexander Comets.
The Braves couldn’t get much going against the Ray Jays, who are the second seed in District 16. Braves hitters Teah Clemenson, Cedar Hall, Wynter Deane and Bailey Christianson were able to get kills against the taller Jays team, but it wasn’t enough. The Braves fell in straight sets, 25-15, 25-15 and 25-14.
