Braves dominate Super Saturday

By Jerry W. Kram

The Parshall Braves earned a sweep on Super Saturday as the varsity boys and girls basketball teams brought home victories against the rival New Town Eagles in New Town.

The Braves boys basketball team overcame a fast start by the Eagles to win 76-62 while the Lady Braves had a big third quarter to vanquish the Lady Eagles 56-38.

The New Town Eagles boys basketball team knew they were in for a fight with the 13-2 Parshall Braves so they tried to exert their own dominance early. Despite giving up easy layups to Billy Johnson and Deyondre Simpson on fast breaks, the Eagles used a combination of three point shots and drives to the basket from Peyton White Owl, Devon Headdress andTerrance Steele to start the game with a 16-6 run in the first five minutes of the game.

The Braves started to dig themselves out of that early hole by feeding Monte Goodbird under the basket and getting some drives from Jelani Foote to cut the lead to six 21-15 by the end of the first quarter.
