Braves can’t corral Mustangs

By Jerry W. Kram
The offense showed a few signs of improvement but the defense struggled again as the Parshall Braves dropped their homecoming showdown with the Surrey Mustangs 52-14.
In the opening drive of the game the Braves had the Mustangs in a third and long situation near midfield. Surrey’s Kolby Nelsen swept around the right side of the line for nearly 20 yards and a first down. The Mustangs punched the ball into the end zone a few plays later for a 6-0 lead about halfway through the first quarter. The Braves would have trouble stopping Nelsen’s runs most of the night.
“Offensively, we are doing all right,” said Braves Head Coach Jay Clausen. “We just can’t seem to tackle. I mean, in practice they seem to tackle just fine. But when they get to the game they just can’t seem to get anybody down. We’ll have to keep working on that.”
