Baseball player makes MHA Nation proud
By Logan J. Davis
Caden Kappes is a stellar baseball player who is one of the best young players in the state. The MHA Nation tribal member helped his team win the state Babe Ruth tournament and then traveling to Garden City, Kansas for the regional tournament that includes state champion teams from 7 states.
In the championship game in Kansas, Kappes got the win after coming in to pitch in relief in the 5th inning. Not only that, Kappes scored the winning run in the game.
Kappes is the grandson of Monica Rabbithead and the late Ronnie Rabbithead and the son of Danette (Rabbithead) Kappes of the Parshall/New Town area. Kappes is coached by his father Chris Kappes, who depends on his son in tight situations on the diamond and he knows very well that his 14-year-old son can usually come through - just like he did on Sunday.
